Throwable Panoramic Camera Ball

Throwable Panoramic Camera Ball:

Throwable Panoramic Camera Ball

As his graduate thesis Jonas Pfeil created a prototype throwable panoramic camera ball that snaps a single image when thrown in the air. Armed with 36 2-megapixel mobile phone camera modules, the camera contains an accelerometer that lets the exposure be trigged at the calculated climax of flight. The sphere of the camera itself is printed on a 3D printer and  is controlled using tiny AVR microcontrollers, with the governing program written in C, C++, QT, and openCV. All images taken are then easily downloaded using a USB device. Pfeil and co. are currently seeking partners in developing the throwable panoramic camera ball further.
