Westwood Condemns Consumerism After London Show - ABC News

My fave designer said stuff today as the London Fashion Week begins. 'Stop buying clothes,' she exhorts us! But will we be able to?

Westwood Condemns Consumerism After London Show - ABC News

A pithy excerpt from the article:

"Stop all this consumerism," said Westwood, the former high priestess of punk who has increasingly used her catwalk shows to spotlight her concern about climate change.
"I just tell people, stop buying clothes. Why not protect this gift of life while we have it? I don't take the attitude that destruction is inevitable. Some of us would like to stop that and help people survive," she said.

Rock On, my sister!

Post Valentines Day Revelation

After many years of experimentation, I have firmly determined that, for me, not having a partner for Valentines Day is far and away superior to having one. The vast oceans of love from my friends and companion animals blasts the paltry love offered by the partners of yesteryear, out of the water. Word.

A A A Acme's Famous Handmade Deodorant

A A A Acme's Famous Handmade Deodorant
Start with I/2 Cup shea butter
Mix in I/4 Cup coconut oil and heat until melted to a liquid in the microwave.
Mix in about 2 Tbs baking soda and about 30 drops of your favorite essential oil (Lavender?)
Pour into an ice cube tray
Freeze

Pop one cube at a time into a clean covered container and keep in the bathroom. I like to place it on a 1/2 inch bed of baking soda.
That way if I feel I need a little extra protection I either roll the cube into extra baking soda or I add a pinch right over the deodorant I applied.

It's impossible to have odor when you use this marvelous deodorant. I dare you.

Tattooing One Dot for Every Casualty during Operation Iraqi Freedom

Tattooing One Dot for Every Casualty during Operation Iraqi Freedom

Artist Wafaa Bilal is getting tattooed during a 24 hour performance on March 8, 2010. The fundraiser is to provide money to American and Iraqi children who have lost their parents in the war. 4000 red dots represent US soldiers who lost their lives, and more than 100,000 'invisible' civilians who lost their lives represented by ultraviolet ink. It will be a full-back tattoo.
